"Levi Deiss worked with our organization, Salem Arts Exchange, as a consultant to help up set up goals, a mission and a strategy to move our ministry forward in a healthy and sustainable way. Our organization had been in existence around a year and we were tired, discouraged and not functioning as well as we could have been. We were stuck. Levi started by helping us see our personal strengths and then helping us define what roles we should each play in order to use our individual gifts in the most effective way. This was the most important exercise for us because it brought us together with an understanding for each other as a team. Frustration fell away and was replaced by respect.

After that vital process, Levi took us down the path of goals and mission and how to implement those. He started us broad and wide and eventually narrowed our plans to bite-size, do-able tasks that eventually brought us to a place where we knew who we were, where we wanted to go and how to get there.

Salem Arts Exchange is now comfortable with where we are. We, as leaders, have fallen into the roles we determined with Levi which have made this journey so much more enjoyable….and for us, joy is a big part of this. Regularly we refine our plans, sometime adding goals and other times moving away from tasks that take us away from our original mission and our values. Having a written vision and mission has kept us on track, holding us accountable and keeping us from getting off track on ideas that are good but muddy our goals. Our mission deals with helping people, so if we lose sight of our mission, it’s more than the bottom line that suffers. Thanks to Levi, we are successfully moving in the right direction by making a difference in the lives of refugees.

Prior to meeting Levi, our business was currently located in a residential garage, a buildout that was nearly done, a business plan that was written, and a small business loan secured. However, we were poorly organized. We completed key tasks but lacked organization and direction. This is where Levi came in and "righted the ship" as they say. Within a few meetings, we solidified vision statements, created marketing campaigns, dialed in our social media and Google efforts, and even started our monthly/quarterly/annual goals.
